hmm.. I don't like the look of the calendar. I prefer the simple look as it is in Snow Leopard. I hope there is option to switch it to that look.

Just got here to Brea an there's about 20 or so in line. Hopefully we can get some update on inventory levels. They didn't sell any yesterday but I don't know if that's because they didn't get any or chose to hold them for today.

    Good luck everyone!

I am also in line at brea. About 11th in line... Using the white one I already got haha. Waiting for a friend

Why, my friend, by "the iPod is Apple's cash cow", you imply that there is only one cash cow. But if you want to use the traditional definition (http://www.dict.org/bin/Dict?Form=Dict2&Database=*&Query=cash+cow) of "cash cow", "a project that generates a continuous flow of money," then the Mac would be more of a cash cow than the iPod, because it has always represented a larger proportion of Apple's profits and revenues. Not once has the iPod represented more of Apple's revenues. So the Mac generates a larger continuous flow of money.

Not sure what set of rules of logic you are using, but either way you are wrong. The Mac is still more important to Apple's bottom line than the iPod. Apple is also innovating more on the Mac than with the iPod.

By the way, you might want to look up the definition of the word "emotional" as well. I'm using facts, you're making things up.

Listen, it's quite simple: For over 25 years Apple was a maker of almost exclusively personal computers and software. Five years ago, they introduced the iPod, followed by the music store (and now video, etc.). All of a sudden - within a period of only five years - iPod and music/video related sales account for almost half of their profit, and soon - by many estimates - will account for at least a full half (and possibly more).

Now, do you think that Apple considers the iPod and the iTunes Music Store a cash cow? Hmmm...

It will add a few more onces and drain a little bit more battery. That is what will happen and that is not a worthwhile thing to apple.

It will drain a significant amount of battery. not a little bit more

Doesn't affect me either way - I'm staying away from Vista for as long as I can. It took them what - 5 years? - to get XP to some reasonable semblance of semi-security. Even now it's no great shakes; it just means some South Korean kid can't pull another large-scale Blaster type of hack.

Steve Gibson (http://grc.com/) (love him or hate him) reports that Vista's rewritten network stack, through the various betas, has been shown vulnerable to a number of the exploits that more mature stacks (e.g. BSD's stack, the one MS used to quietly use) have fixed over the past decade! It just seems ludicrous.

Is it easy for us to install an SSD by ourselves? (I'm not a geek)
Previous iMac HD upgrades have involved removing the screen - yes, really.

Hope these are better in that respect.

    UK prices start at 999 for the 21.5" with 2.5GHz quad-core i5, vs $1,199
that's a really poor exchange rate dollar to pound !

yeah not worth it. on a 8 core 3GHz each step takes ~45 mins

    45*100=4500
    /60=75
    /24=3.13 days

preferred is 4 days and a final deadline of 6. even if u ran a 4 core 24/7 i don't think it would complete it

Could this be the eventual end of usb altogether? No way, USB is cheap and there's no reason to replace them for low bandwidth applications like keyboard, mouse, printers, controllers, etc.

Others have touched on this as well, but here's what Charlie said in one of his latest interviews (http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/41824830/ns/today-entertainment/):

Okay, this is past the point where it's funny. This man has some very serious mental issues. He's starting to out-crazy Gadhafi -- and that's not easy.

Agreed. This guy is beyond sick. If someone doesn't intervene soon, he's going to kill himself, someone else, or both.

I accidentally posted this over in the March thread first by accident forgetting that its April already. I guess that makes me the April Fool

Anyway, here is mine for the day. It's a sculpture thingy.

I'm planning on heading to the Game Farm (like a zoo run by the Department of Fish and Wildlife) tomorrow morning, so hopefully I will have a bunch of new stuff to share.

Quick, somebody make up some rumors for the man. ;)

Heard from an analyst who knows a reputable source that ios 5 will be released next Tuesday.

The date makes sense since it coincides with the 3rd of the month, which is also a prime number.

For now the ios has the code name: ios5 as insiders confirm.

Apple is close lipped as usual, but we hear 3 engineers who were asked: "What's new?" gave each other
high 5's in public and were thus arrested for releasing company secrets.

Verizon will have this ios too and it comes in white

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble... but I don't believe this is a US phone. My iPhone 3gs has been on t-mobile for almost 2 years now... ...because that's the standard carrier in the Netherlands...

The +1 before the phone number definitely lends to the probability that it's intended for foreign use.

I can send a screenshot of both my and my gf's phones that clearly say: T-Mobile 3G on them... :D

    Exactly!

I don't understand one thing. Why can't Apple confirm this themselves? That way people will at least know what they can do. Either you wait or you move onto to another device.
