I contacted University Y, but they said they don't keep I-20 copies that are 7 years old.

I think this thread is a great way for people to share their experiences with consulting companies. Nothing like first hand information from people who have lived and learnt. However let's keep it positive. No unnecessary rants, if someone feels their company is bad, then by all means state it, but I hope we do so in a reasonably civil manner so as to keep the moderator's job nice and easy :)

The perm is for EB-2 which requires a Masters Degree (Foreign Degree acceptable). I've a Bachelors from UK which is 3 years and a Masters from UK which is 1 year. During the I-140 process will there be a problem coz of this.
I think that there could be a problem, unfortunately. You only have 4 years of 3rd level education, which may not be equivalent to a US master's degree, in the view of CIS. UK bachelor's degrees can be equated as equivalent to a US bachelor's degree, if you also did A-levels, because A-levels are considered one year of college in the US. Make sure that your company's lawyer is very familiar with case law and regulations regarding educational equivalencies. Your situation is not clear-cut.

I agree that the DC rally is a critical event but I think I am loosing interest in this online forum. I guess the forum moderators may be busy with organizing the DC event. Wow i bought a new toyota in Oct last year and no one asked me my immigration status. Of course i already had a loan with toyota financials for my older car so i guess that worked out to my benefit.
So i guess if some one gets deniend in one place it is not a dead end. They have other banks and credit unions as options and the best option would be a dealer provided finance as they want to sell you the car

I never heard of this...Last year I applied for extension and had to travel for family emergency. But I got the approval without any issues. Might be just lucky?
Your extension may be become invalid. We use I94 number in the extension application form. when you get extension approval you have the extended I94 for the same number.

I have a question regarding where to file my EAD renewal application. I am a July filer NJ resident and my I-485/EAD/AP were sent to Nebraska and got the AP/EAD approved through Nebraska going by my LIN no. As per the (C)(9) rules it says NJ residents should file to Texas service center and somewhere else I read that my EAD renewal application should be sent to the location where my I-485 is getting processed.
Please share your experiences.

I have done this. No problems at all. For me they did not ask any question at all. I was carrying old and new I797. Hope this hepls.

yes you can file, infact USCIS made procedures very simple and they have opened drive-ins 485 filing in aliance with McDonalds, just take all your papers tommorrow to drive-in window and don't forget get your fries

Last week, I submitted my documents to my lawyer but until now I haven't received any confirmation from my employer yet if my application has been filed already. We are not allowed to contact our lawyer directly so I'm just relying on my employer about this. I'm quite concerned coz there's no way for me to find out if they have filed it or not.

Contact your lawyer, nothing wrong in asking for reciept notice. But remember, I am a third person and don't know about your employer and lawyer and how they are. So do it at your discretion

Take the EB3 job if it pays good money and provides quality experience. You can always interfile later on and switch to EB2 if EB2 is progressing quicker. We do not know which horse is going to run fast at this moment.;)

The H1B are positioned better as they can relocate quickly. Most of USC and GC dont relocate due to housing ownership. While H1B homeownership is low.
I personally know atleast 20+ USC not willing to move to greener grounds just because they have house.
Housing did create a biased USC/GC jobseeker.

Report indicates that the H-1B workers are increasingly stranded abroad not being able to obtain the visa stamp abroad pending so-called protracted security checks and consequently not being able to return to the U.S. to resume employment. Should this environment continue, the business environment for the U.S. businesses will continuously deteriorate and the businesses will continuously suffer unless they take out their businesses and jobs abroad to meet the needed workforces in order to stay in business in increasingly competitive global economy. Nothing will be able to stop the offshore outsourcing of the U.S. businesses. This is something the Obama Administration should think about very quick before too late.

Donot be suprised to expect more, one of my friends at IBM got letter (from IBM attorney) asking to state client location etc..I think it could be based on any new USCIS H1B rules or verification ??
How things change over time..1999 and 2009 opposite in almost most ways. job offers, rates, hostility, length of job contracts etc
